The chairman of the House subcommittee on aviation told the Secretary of Transportation that it is "absolutely essential'' that the public understand "we have taken some steps to at least give passengers and crew a fighting chance.'' What step has been taken to give the public a fighting chance? They banned knives. Four planes were hijacked by little men with small knives, and this is how our government protects us -- by further restricting our ability to defend ourselves. I didn't think that knives would actually be banned, but I guess I should have known better.
